Hundreds of Buddhist extremists attacked the Muslim populations in Myanmar, setting two mosques and 100s of houses to fire. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Okkan, almost 70 miles from the country's former capital Yangon. According to the sources about 400 hundred Buddhist extremists attacked the locality where Muslims were already under fear of being killed and expelled. The residents ran into the nearby forests, leaving everything belong to them to be burnt. At least one reported killed and 10 others injured as a result of the deadly incident.

Rohingya Muslims living in the western Myanmar are now considered as the most neglected people on the glob by the international community. The are subjected to murder, immolation, suppression and expulsion from their homeland just because they are Muslims. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas are expelled and thousands are killed this year alone. The Government of Myanmar is continuously refusing to accept the minority as citizens of Myanmar in spite of the fact that they have been living there of centuries. According to some reports, Myanmar military is also supporting the extremist mobs with weapons and petrol to burn the Muslim villages and their property. In spite of the pressure from various human rights organisations and international community, the government of Myanmar has not taken any steps to safeguard the Muslim minority.
