United Nation's Report Urges People To Eat Insects

By on 16:23

The Food and Agriculture organisation of the UN in a report urges people around the world to eat insects in order to fight against hunger and Mal nutrition. It further says that the use of insects could also boost nutrition, reduce hunger and pollution all over the world. The organisation is of the view that it is much easier and beneficial to use insects as food as insects reproduce quickly, have high feed to growth conversion rate. "Insects are everywhere and they reproduce quickly, and they have high growth and feed conversion rates and a low environmental footprint," the report says.  Millions of people in countries like china have already been using insects in their food recipes. According to a report, total number of people using insects as a regular food is 2 billion.

Nutritional value
Various researches have revealed that insects are rich in proteins, minerals and fats. It is said that insects may be further useful for undernourished children. The idea of using insects as food has something to do with the protein production efficiency of insects. As compared to livestock, insects need much lesser feed to produce the same amount of proteins. Crickets need 12 times less feed to produce the same amount of proteins than cattle.

Eating insects is disgusting
No matter what the nutritional value of insects is, it is still disgusting to eat insects like wasps, beetles, bumble bees and house flies. Some people call the report really funny and illogical. The balance of nature set by the nature itself has certain boundaries and regulations. Chickens and livestock are meant for food purposes whereas insects are designed to carryout pollination and other natural processes. Experts say that the there is no shortage of food in the world but people are jobless and don't have money and this is due to un necessary wars. Markets are teeming with variety of foods everywhere but people don't have money to buy things. In spite of urging the people to eat house flies and cockroaches, the United Nations must take steps to stop wars and hence the destruction of humanity.
